For those who filed a 6 month extension for their personal tax return in April, you must complete and send your return to the IRS by October 15. If you did not file an extension for the April 15 deadline, complete your return immediately. The sooner you file your return, the less interest and penalties the IRS can assess. Remember, even though you are able to file your return at a later date with an extension, the treasury still wants its money by April 15.
