Illinois Announces Individual Income Tax Filing Extension
Gov. Pritzker announced that Illinois is extending the 2020 individual income tax filing and payment deadline from April 15 to May 17 to match the new federal due date. The Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) will continue to process tax refunds for those filing ahead of the deadline.
The filing extension does not apply to estimated tax payments (IL or Federal) that are due on April 15, 2021. Additionally, the filing extension does not apply to C Corporations or Trusts.
Other states filing and payment deadlines may vary and are not always the same as the federal filing deadline.
